Aniplex Panel 2013 at ACEN

Aniplex Panel at ACEN 2013

Aniplex the international anime powerhouse hosted a panel at ACEN 2013. They discussed and previewed upcoming anime that will be dubbed, upcoming new animes that will be aired soon, box sets, and much much more. The good thing about Aniplex is that they, unlike Funimation, cut straight to the point. This is what you guys love, we love it too, and here is what we are doing to have more of what we all love. The entirety of the panel was just under an hour and most of it was Q & A.

Upcoming releases include Nisemonogatari, which is the next cycle of Bakamonogatari, which will be on Blu-ray. Gurren Lagann limited edition DVD box set with some pretty good english dubbing. There will also be a Blu-ray box set with the imported Japanese boxing! The Blu-ray box set will include unaired episode 6, stickers, postcards, large concept art, and a coupled other things. To quote the speaker “I got a gigantic package like… thingy.” Oreimo Blu-ray boxset to be released including 4 ovas, as well as alternative endings, as well as a PET clear case with a cute label that is an original illustration. Mikupolis will be released on a Blu-ray box set as well! Mikuapolis is a concert held in Los Angeles, California by Miku from Vocaloid. It includes a double sided poster of the pop icon. There will also be a Blu-ray set of the Madoka Magica movie which will be released in a standard and a collector’s edition. The collectors set includes part 1 & 2 with 6, that’s right 6, different language subtitles, exclusive cover art, booklet, and a translation booklet for those who order now. So a lot of stuff will be coming on Blu-ray which is great because Blu-ray is far superior in quality. What am I saying? You people know this…

For you fans that are going to Anime Boston as well Aniplex will be hosting a panel which will be showing a lot of great things.  They are going to be airing a preview for the dubbed version of SAO (Sword Art Online), which will also be shown afterwards at www.sword-artonlineusa.com. Tomohiko Ito, who has worked on animes such as; Blue Excorcist, Claymore, Hunter X Hunter, Guilty Crown, Summer Wars, (the) Girl Who Lept Through Time, etc. will as well be there taking all of your questions! Ito-sama is the director of SAO and he will be showing up with Bryce Papenbrook who will be one of the voice actors (Kirito), Bryce has been featured in video games and a few tv series including; Tales of grace, Saints Row: The Third, Blade (TV Series) Dissidia 012: final Fantasy, God Eater Burst, Kekkaishi, etc. Kinda wish I could go now… Anyone want to raise some funds for me?

Now onto the Q & A! There were a few inquisitive arms that waved into the air hoping they would be picked. Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic will be getting another season although they cannot say when, which is great even though it does leave a little left to be had; making us want more.  The rest of the questions are about pricing details which are almost all above $100 U.S. dollars. That blows but, most of the time it is worth it!

With that the panel came to an end. I highly recommend that if you are fans of Aniplex, like I am , then you should definitely go to one of their panels. What they lack in oratory skills they more than make up for in content and fan interaction.

Anime Hell 2013

Animehell! 2013

Anime Hell is one of the most offensive, rude, caliss, funniest events on this planet. They have a show every year at ACEN this being their 15th year! While they do have a disclaimer at the beginning warning people that if they are squeamish, easily offended, and/or do not possess a funny bone they should GTFO! Or get the fuck out. The best way to describe Anime Hell would be to relate it to 4chan’s funniest threads/pix and flipping through them for a couple hours until you cannot laugh anymore, or you might die.

This year’s Anime Hell was held not in the Grand ballroom but in the smaller less adequately seated Rosemont Ballroom. Packed in tight we all settled in for the show to start. Anticipation was high in the crow and I can say that we were all on the edge of our non-existent seats. Meaning the floor was the only option to many people in the ballroom.

Fridays show started off with the same motivational or actually de-motivational GTFO as the years before hand. They made their feelings very clear about being moved to the smaller ballroom. Saying ,“Synergy (the rave’s name) should GET THE FUCK OUT!” Laughs roared through the throngs of people and they expelled their animosity toward the rave going on across the hall.

The skits and jokes were good, funny, and slightly toned down since last year’s Anime Hell. Being it their 15th anniversary with ACEN I had hoped for a little more. The material though was current with today’s internet meme’s and political environment. Having enjoyed Anime Hell for the past few years I found solace in the fact they kept the animations called “Rejected”. They are always funny and never get old, NEVER. The newer material was either love or mid-infatuation not as striking and side splitting as the year’s before-hand. All in all it was a nice event and I would still highly recommend it to ACEN con-goers that have yet to see it.
